  How to create an index for my archived posts, showing a LIST with the titles (not just that little “dates-box”?

  You can use the Archives shortcode on a Page.

  thanks for your fast response.
  However, index appeared very large on top of my main text area, like headers. I would like this list to go on the left (or right) margin, where the “Archive” is already located.
  Can you help? (Pls. bear in mind, I am not a geek and not too good with the terminology). Many thanks.
