How to create a members only area

  Is there a plugin that will allow me to have only SOME of my pages available to those who are logged in via a username/password? In other words can I have some pages public and some private? I do not like the password protection option that comes loaded with WordPress. Because each page has a password. I want a member to login once and then have access to all the pages that are private. Again some pages would always be public. Thanks!

  Is yours a wordpress.com free hosted blog? We cannot use plugins on wordpress.com blogs. http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/10/27/can-i-upload-my-own-plugins/
