how to create a poll
-
I was unable to add in any poll plugins and when I tried to create checkboxes or buttons in html, they are not displayed. Please kindly advise how I can go about creating a poll in my blog. Thank you.

We do not use plugins on wordpress.com blogs. If you have a downloaded wordpress software from wordpress.org then you need to go here for support http://wordpress.org/support
If you have a wordpress.com blog then lucky polls are the only non-javascript polls that we cannot locate that will run on wordpress.com blogs. http://luckypolls.com/

I am not so blog savvy. I went to LuckyPolls and created the poll, but I cannot figure out how to get the poll onto my WordPress Blog. Help! FYI…I don’t want the poll to appear in a post, but rather on the side bar or on a separate page.

a quick search in the forums with the keyword luckypolls came up with several threads:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=luckypollsbasically you can’t because it uses javascript. you can understand better if you read the past threads from the link. =)

Look up to the first post I made to this thread. WordPress.com does not offer polls at this time. If you would like to request that polls be brought forward as a feature you can send in a feedback including your reasons for making the request.

Use luckypolls, just like it says above. If you want something really fancy, use Surveymonkey.com.
-
Only ones that don’t use flash, embeds, javascript, etc. That doesn’t leave much of a list that use HTML until wordpress.com releases their own (if that ever happens).

You’re not troublesome. You can’t get answers without asking questions and receiving directions. Happy blogging. :)

Thanks for all of your replies. I was finally able to get luckypolls to work by imbedding the code in a text widget.
Thanks again and happy blogging!

SurveyMonkey looks good, except I do not see how to embed the poll into my blog, as opposed to just kinking to their site. Luckypolls does not allow me to have people rank the responses, so any 2 answers can be compared. The search continues…

For LuckyPolls, it appears ‘General HTML (Hyper Links Only)’ is the only code that works, otherwise the options don’t work – only ‘view results’.

You can easily add a poll to WordPress. Create one at http://www.apopularitycontest.com. It’s simple html, and leaves out styles so it naturally matches your site.
-
All of these html polls can be used on wordpress.com blogs. None are contained in an elegant sidebar widget. Voting is done by link to the 3rd party sites.
