How to create a simple pictures matrix layout

  Hi
  I need to create a simple page with a few pictures and have them act as links to existing content on my site. Organizing pictures manually seems like a hassle, and I can’t seem to create a table with rows/columns to guide me.

  I found this online, which would be great but it seems rather complicated. Is it?
