How to create a sub menu
-
I would like to create 6 sub-menus from a menu (page) that I currently have on a wordpress site of mine. I can’t find the directions I need on the wordpress help links, even the one titled “Changing the Order & Creating Sub-Menus”
Can someone send me a link to more specific information on how to do this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. The easiest way to create sub-menus is to set up a custom menu. After adding all the items to your menu you can just drag-and-drop to re-order and create child pages. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Hi kikkieh,
Thank you so much! That was exactly what I needed to know. I figured it had to be simple – but I just couldn’t seem to get it. :) That’s what 16 hours of homework will do to a brain…
Thanks again!

OH, wait, don’t go away yet…
I feel like an idiot now. Because I set up all my sub-menus, and then my sub-menus for the sub-menus… and I’m not sure how to get separate page content posted for each menu. I tried to create new pages, and see if I could place them in a sub-menu, can’t seem to find anything… Tried a quick edit to see if I could re-categorize somehow…
>sigh<
advice? -
I mean, I discovered how to make a page connect to a parent, but none of my sub-sub-menus are showing up there…

I had a look at your site and it looks like you’ve done things the wrong way around. You have created a bunch of menu links with different titles, but all linking to the same page while you should have created the pages first and then add them to the menu.
Create and publish all the pages you want to have. Then go to Appearance ->Menus. I think the easiest would be to delete all the links you created, or even delete the entire menu and start afresh. Add all your published pages to the menu from the Pages area on the left of the menu screen, and then re-order them by dragging and dropping.
Let me know if my explanation isn’t clear enough.

No, your explanation was perfectly clear. I erased, created pages, added to menus, adjusted hierarchy, all is good there. :)
NEXT question. If you go to my site, pretend that you are going to view:
Colorado Quality Standards, then hover over “Colorado Quality Standard I” (or any of them), THEN, attempt to go to “Evidence Rationale 2” (or 3)…I find that the dropdown boxes just want to take me down to the next menu below, instead of keeping the dropdown boxes with the evidence rationales ‘open’ to click on a lower menu level.
:( uh-oh.
If you don’t know anything about this, no problem, I will try to contact wordpress chat tomorrow evening….
You have been awesome, thanks so much for all your help! If you were a neighbor, I’d bake you some cookies. (for real.)

It was an issue with the theme, and I’m getting it worked out with WordPress. Thanks again for your help! Nice blot, BTW!

I noticed the sub-menu issue when I checked your site earlier. Glad you’re getting it sorted out. If you need more help, just shout.
You’re very welcome. I’ll accept a plate of virtual cookies :-D
