How to create about link in text widget

  I have trawled the forums for at least the last hour trying to find an answer to this problem. I am using the Benevolence theme and as this theme does not seem to automatically show the ‘about’ link as most other themes do, I have tried making a link to my ‘about’ page (which I have already created) in a text widget. I have copied and pasted this URL http://oliverdelasti.wordpress.com/about/ into the text widget, and then saved it, but all that shows in the sidebar is the exact same URL, no clickable link.
  I would be really grateful if someone could help.

  Thanks ellaella, I had already seen that faq, and I have tried different variants of the html string to get this link working. No success so far. If you are good with code yourself maybe you could suggest what I am doing wrong?
