How to create an blog in two languages?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I wrote my blog in French. I would also like to get an English version. The best would be to give the choice to the blog’s visitors to choose between the French of the English version when they go in the blog. This should be by clicking a French flag for French and a British flag for English.

    How to do that?
    Thanks for your help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are no bilingual or multilingual themes. You can set only one interface language here > Settings > General. There is no FTP access to our free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot install plugins. We cannot use Microsoft or Google translation widgets or any other JavaScript widgets, as the code is stripped out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

However, I have translation on my WordPress.com blogs. There are two workarounds and you will find them here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/02/14/translation-widget-for-wordpress-com-blogs/
Note: You can copy and paste the code on my Translations page and then replace every occurrence of my blog’s URL in the code with your own blog’s URL.

Re: bilingual blogging and/or mutlilingual blogging

If you are bilingual or multilingual and want to publish your free hosted WordPress.com in two or more languages but do not want to rely on machine translation that can be done. You can have two or more blogs in different languages and interlink them via categories and custom menus. There’s also a workaround for publishing posts in two or more languages in the same blog. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/02/25/wordpress-com-multilingual-blogs/
