  Visual editor does me no good
  I create text on my Mac tried different formats, Word, Jpeg etc
  I was able to make posts – I think when I had Parallels available

  Copy and [aste creates double spaced paragraphs which look horrible

  It’s better to create it in just the editor. If you copy and paste from other apps, especially word processors, it brings over proprietary formatting that we can’t interpret.

  This affects most copying and pasting, and it doesn’t matter if you use a Mac or not (most of us actually use Macs).

  Not very encouraging for anyoone who wants to create a carefully thought out blog, rather than type it on the fly

  I tried to create a picture and paste that .But that only left me with a link not the picture

  That should be the answer, but how should I paste an image,
  The media button did not seem to work

  Alternatively how could I correct the format that did get pasted. Double spaced lines are easy to fix but not the whole line separation of a carriage return

  How exactly can I do this with HTML.
  The need is not trivial

  There’s no need to use HTML. You can use the Visual Editor to accomplish what you mention.
