How to create excerpts

  Hi – I am trying to figure out how to create excerpts on my page — i.e., to put the first paragraph of a post, and then a link that says click here to continue. I can figure out to use links between stories, but if I don’t see how I can use this feature to create excerpts without creating another page. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Many thanks,
