How to create free test site than paid site with different domain name?
-
Hello, Is it possible for me to create a website for free with WordPress in order to get a feel for it, and later get a paid version using a different domain name? If so, how should I proceed and get started with the free site? Should I start through creating a free site by choosing the free site at https://wordpress.com/pricing/, use any free wordpress.com domain name since this will just be a test site, and then later I will be able to add a new site with the real, non-wordpress.com, domain name? Thank you very much.
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi there,
You are correct, it is possible for you to create a website for free and later get a paid version using a different domain name. You can actually have multiple websites on the same WordPress.com account.
So, yes, you are able to start with a free WordPress.com website and later connect that same website to a new domain.
Or, you can even keep the free WordPress.com website and then create a different paid site that has the new, non-WordPress.com domain name.
Here’s a link to a support article that goes in depth on domains: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/
I hope this helps!

How very kind of you to get back to me. Thank you very much. It is good to know that this is indeed possible, to create a free “test” site now, and paid version with actual domain name I plan to use later. And thank you for that link — it does look very helpful. Thank you again for your help.
