how to create intermal links

    Folks,

    I have exhausted all my (and by friend’s) resources trying to set up an internal link by following the instruction (and all plausible permutations thereof) carefully. Two problems are evident.

    Call the post from which all or part of a text is to be moved to some other post the “Move From Post” (MFP); call the post where the text from the MFP is to be moved the “Move to Post” (MTP). (1) If the first instruction to “underline the text you want to link to” and then to “click on the link icon” is taken literally – in the absence of any instruction to go to MTP and click on the link icon <there” > — then one will click on the <MFP> link icon and be taken to “find link.” Entering the MTP permalink takes one to MTP, where highlighting where one one want’s the link to be inserted <always> activates the link icon and recycles one to the “find link” box. (If, instead, on initially arriving at the “find link” box from MFP one enters the MFP permalink, one is taken nowhere or to MFP, where one started.)

    Note that this literal reading makes a nonsense of talk about using “find link” to find MFP, since one has already found it.

    On the other hand, if on reads the instruction sensibly as meaning that one is on MFP <only > to highlight the text (and perhaps copy its permlink) and is THEN to go to MTP and continue with the instructions, one gets the following: Highlighting the word on MTP next to which one want the text from the MFP to be inserted <always> activates the link icon and takes one back to the “link box,” where no combination of permalinks (or search words) produces the desired link.

    In all cases, entering the published MTP (either from within the site or externally through google) and clicking on the word where the link is supposed to inserted produces no result, and Clicking on “open in new widow” in the link icon produces the message “the page cannot be found.”

    Including or not including HTPL in the permalink makes no difference.
