How to create new account with an old username (now changed) ?

    I created an account with my username ‘MatthieuGodts’.
    I changed the username of this account [because it is managaed for a all community, not only for me]. The username is now ‘Scoutwoluwe’.

    I want now to create a new account only for me with my real username ‘MatthieuGodts’. Message tell me that it is already used …
    But actually ‘MatthieuGodts’ was used in the past but i changed an i want to retake it.

    Could you help me?

    same thing with my email address: i put it for a community account, i changed the address associated with this account, i want to create new account with this email, message tell me it’s already used.

    Hi there,

    When you change a username, it isn’t possible for you or anyone else to use the original username again. We include warnings about that in the username change process, and on this page: Change Your Username

    You’ll need to choose a new, unique username for your new account. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that.

    and what about the email address, could several accounts redirect to the same email address ?
    is it a reason ?

    Each WordPress.com account needs to use a unique email address: Email Address

    If you have any trouble changing your email address, please let me know what email address you’re trying to change it to and I can help you find out if it’s already linked to a WordPress.com account. If you’re not sure and want to check, you can also enter the email address in the password reset form here:

    Actually, I came up with quite the same issue for an other account:

    To check, I enter an other email address in the password reset form ((email visible only to moderators and staff))

    I receive an email which said me that this email address was linked with an account: staffdunite896
    So I came to this account settings, but the email address linked to it is (email visible only to moderators and staff) and not (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    How can I free (email visible only to moderators and staff) from any account ?
    Is it linked for ever, even if the actual email address of this account has changed ?

    Hi there,

    Can you please double-check the account that is linked to that email address, to make sure you’ve signed in to the correct account?

    Also, please note that an email address is still linked to an account until an email change is confirmed. That means that if you entered a new email address for an account and the email change is listed as pending in the account settings, the account is still linked to the original email address.
