How to create ‘one column no sidebar’ page on TwentyTen theme
-
Thank you for all your work to improve WordPress.com. The layout is so different to the original WordPress that I can no longer find a couple of options. I’m hoping you can point me in the right direction.
My website uses the TwentyTen theme. That theme comes with 2 templates: Default and One Column No Sidebar. I’m unable to create pages without a sidebar. Can you tell me where I can find this option?
I don’t want to have any comments on this website. There used to be a section called ‘Discussion’ where I could uncheck a box called ‘Allow comments’. I can’t find that box and all my new pages come up with the ‘Leave Comments Below’ block. How can I turn this off?

Hi there,
I’m unable to create pages without a sidebar. Can you tell me where I can find this option?
Sure. From the block editor, look to the right-hand options. You should see a Document tab. Tap that, and under it you’ll find Page Attributes. The template should show there. The discussion option is just above that, too.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, your advice did not help me. Under the Document tab I can only see “Status & Visibility” which expands to “Visibility”, “Publish”, “Pending Rewiew”, “Author”. That’s all. I can send you a screen shot if you want…but I have found a solution using WP Admin and Quick Edit where both of the fields I need appear.

I only have “Pages” on this website. No “Posts” at all. I’m beginning to think we are talking at cross purposes. You seem to have access to some kind of styling dialogue that relates to the entire “Page”. What I’m looking at seems to relate to just the “Block”.
When you say “go to Document > Page Attributes > Template”. Where do you go to see this menu?
When I edit my test page (one that I created in block mode editor), it opens the block editor and I see a wysiwyg of the page but there is nothing for me to open a dialogue containing the “Document” tab. I first have to edit a block (e.g. putting my mouse on the clock and clicking). I then see a popup menu which contains a “…” option. The “…” pops up a with “Show Block Settings”. If I click on the “Show Block Settings”, then I see a sidebar with a tab with the word “Document”. But my version of this tab doesn’t have much on it. It certainly doesn’t have the word “Page Attributes” or “Template”.
I think I’m missing the entry point to the “Page” version of “Document”. Where is that hidden?

I don’t see the same details on the “Document” tab. Here is my screenshot of what I see. Screenshot-2020-06-02-21-00UTC+8 I am an Admin on the website.

I’ve discovered that the problem is browser-specific. The view I get of the “Document” tab in Firefox is faulty. I even tried Firefox in “safe mode” and it was still faulty. I decided to check it out in Chrome. In Chrome, it works perfectly (I see the same as what you see). Website’s that don’t work on Firefox are rare but it turns out wordpress.com is one of them.
I assume you have no interest in fixing this problem. On that basis, just close this topic and mark it as resolved.

Addendum. I cleared all cache and cookies belonging to wordpress.com from my Firefox and tried it again. This fixed the problem. It must have been caused by a bad cookie and not by Firefox.
