How to create searchable image database
-
Hi
Im trying to create a website that contains nothing but externally hosted images. There could be upwards of 10,000 images and I want them searchable. The images will be catergorized. For example there might be 10 images I want to result from the search term ‘apple’. Im a novice user and worried this might be outside of my scope of knowledge. Would I create a page for each category….this could be a problem as there might be more than a 1000 pages….or is there another solution?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there
Great idea, but that is beyond the scope of what you can accomplish with a site hosted here at WordPress.Com. You could link to an existing database hosted externally, or perhaps try building one yourself with a WordPress Installation hosted at a different hosting provider. The advantage to a self hosted site in this situation is that you can run applications that are not allowed on sites hosted at WordPress.Com for various security reasons. The following links go into this in more detail:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ explains many of the differences between self-hosted and sites hosted at WordPress.Com
