How to create site with only one static post, which displays by default?
-
I want the single post on this page to be the only thing that displays, using just the base URL. I spent two hours on Google trying to find a way to do this. There will be no other posts. I don’t need home/about pages or comments. Just what’s displayed when you open the one post.
I started with a free template (or free version) a couple days ago that I can’t locate now. It’s by Automattic, but the theme identification sites can’t identify it. (I find it amazing WordPress has no functionality to tell me what theme I started with.) The theme came with three posts. I modified the first one, and deleted the other two. (I emptied the trash…)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How do I edit this post??? Or Delete it??? The three dots to the right –> “Copy link, Add topic to favorites.”

hi! Just wanted to let you know you aren’t alone lol. There isn’t even an option for what we’re looking for, a single, simple “landing page”. I’m particularly annoyed at the themes that are offered. They are grouped into categories that my site is not in and now if I choose a blog template and delete everything I don’t need it will still say “blog” on the bottom?! I hate that word hahaha. I noticed this on your website and maybe I’ll have the option to delete idk.
You would think some form of “personal page” or the like would be available. I keep getting forced into a retail store category only because during setup I was forced to choose something and there will be a link to my store. I do believe a lot of my frustration and annoyance has been relieved after reading that I’m not alone and then typing all of this! lol.
I’ve had to learn half a dozen different skills in multiple industries in order to start this project. There’s 0% chance I’m going to let this part derail me and sure as stone I will come out on top. Thanks for sharing your frustration and asking a question I need an answer to! You will come out on top too!

Hello!
We offer several themes specifically designed for “About Me” pages in our “About” category. You can explore them here: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/about
Feel free to browse and select the one that aligns best with your needs!
I hope that helps you get started!

hi thanks for the reply. I’m new at this and still confused. I go to my search filters and “about” doesn’t exist, yet I follow your link and clearly see the “about” tab. Does Bluehost limit what I’m able to access? I’m still not fully clear on the relationship between the two, but it makes finding tutorials difficult.

@cap8dca5f6f8d1b To avoid any confusion, it’s crucial to distinguish among three different versions of “WordPress”:
- The free, open-source WordPress software that powers your website.
- WordPress.org, the open-source project where you can obtain the software for free to use on your chosen hosting provider.
- WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software, which is the platform you are currently contacting.
Your site utilizes the WordPress software but is hosted at Bluehost. Since your website is hosted at Bluehost, your experience may differ, as the theme link I provided is intended for sites hosted here at WordPress.com. If you’re looking for similar themes, I recommend exploring the WordPress.org theme directory and utilizing the feature filter to narrow down options that better suit your needs.
I hope this clarification helps!
