How to create table and save information in database, list/update/update info?

    Hey this is my first post to this forum. I have used wordpress for some of my projects. For my new project i need to save information in database and display the list in admin and do some operation like delete and update of those information saved in database. What i know is to create table lets say wp_contact for contact information and use hook to save the information while submitting the form. Now what i want to know is that is this the correct way to do so or is there any solution to do this? Hope to get the solution. Thanks
