How to deactivate site

  Hi there-

  I want to deactivate my website.
  It’s very old, out of date, and I want to begin from scratch.
  How can I make sure no visitors find it while under construction?

  The easiest way to make sure no one can visit your site while it’s under construction would be to make it private as described here:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
