How to deal with people who use my email to create blogs?
-
Someone used my email address to create about 30 WordPress sites and not only am I getting a lot of emails about sites I do not care about, but also I am concerned people may think I am behind those sites. They seem to be sites optimized for SEO.
Why isn’t WordPress using email verification? what can I do about it?
-
We use email verification at WordPress.com.
Perhaps they created self-hosted WordPress.org blogs (which we have no control over).
Can you share one of the URLs?
-
Sure – herte are a few

http://cliniquegiftwithpurchase.com
http://communitysupportedagriculture.net
http://runescapegoldgenerator.orgYou are right, the signature on the email is from WordPress.org but I did not know they did hosting.
Thanks for any help

It’d be http://wordpress.org/support/ you’d need to contact as they’re a separate entity to WordPress.Com

The blogs are separate stand alone from WordPress.ORG (.ORG is only the keeper of the software) – I think you need to go and do battle with each web site owner – they probably need a log-in for you to be able to mess with the content of the comments – otherwise I would suggest “adjusting” the comments until they wake up.
A friend had similar problems with a golf course pro shop and people kept calling her for Tee times – she finally got upset and just started saying “4 people 9:00 am Sat Tee time – That is fine – have you down for that time” – I guess she quad booked the whole weekend – no more phone calls after that –
