  • Hi there. I’m afraid you’re in the wrong forum. This support forum is only for free WordPress.com blogs. You appear to have a self-hosted WordPress.ORG install. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ Even though the Sela theme is created by WordPress.com, it works completely differently in WordPress.org and the instructions I can give you here won’t work for you.

Please visit the WordPress.org support forum for assistance as we won’t be able to help you here: http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.

    Hello,

    Actually I dont have wordpress.org – I have wordpress.com
I bought wordpress via domain.com but they said my problem is out of their reach and I should contact the theme – how do I contact a theme?
Also, I have log-in details for wordpress.com not org…how would you know that I have org because maybe you are right?

  • http://www.bitesfortwo.com/ is definitely a WordPress.org site. If you look at the bottom of your site it says “Proudly Powered by WordPress”. If you click on that it takes you to the WordPress.org website. Also, on WordPress.com sites it says “Blog at WordPress.com”. Additionally, according to that domain’s WhoIs data it is hosted by domain.com (http://vitzo.com/en/whois/www.bitesfortwo.com) If you were on WordPress.com, the name servers would have been pointing here.

Also, I have log-in details for wordpress.com not org

WordPress.org is not a hosting platform like WordPress.com. In other words, you can have a site running the WordPress.org software without having a WordPress.org username, as WordPress.org isn’t physically hosting your site.

You access your site’s back-end via the login details provided by your web-host, or if you have Jetpack enabled on that site you can also use your WordPress.com login details, but that doesn’t mean your site is hosted here. You need to specifically register a WordPress.org account to get login details there and post in that forum. I hope I explained that clearly enough :)

they said my problem is out of their reach and I should contact the theme – how do I contact a theme?

It looks like your site’s tagline was bumped into your menu bar for some reason. They should be able to help you with that in the Sela theme subforum on WordPress.org: https://wordpress.org/support/theme/sela

I just want to clarify again, even though the theme is created by WordPress.com, staff here won’t be able to fix anything for you. Unlike WordPress.com where multiple blogs run a single installation of the same theme, on a self-hosted site like yours you downloaded and installed your own copy of the theme on your own hosting account (or your hosting provider did it for you), which means you can change it as you like, but which also means staff here have no way to access it. In other words, if it breaks, you have to fix it yourself, as you’re the only one who has the necessary access to fix it.

That was more that clear! super helpful! thank you!

  • You’re very welcome :)

I hope they can help you to fix this.
