How to delete a site redirect?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I have just purchased a third domain http://www.euparticipation.org. However I have two other domains that are linked to each other and one (teannualconference2014.info) redirects to another (teannualconference2015.info).

Since now I have a third blog on a separate topic and I’ll not need teannualconference2014.info anymore, I’d like to cancel site redirect not to have a primary domain anymore. Please could you help me with this?

On the same note, after site redirect is cancelled and 2014 blog expires, will my blog teannualconference2015.info keep the same design and layout, or will I loose the content then?

    Many thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

So right now, all three of your domains (euparticipation.org , teannualconference2014.info , and teannualconference2015.info) lead to the same content, which is hosted at teannualconference2014dotinfo.wordpress.com .

It sounds like this is what you want:

    • Cancel the domain teannualconference2014.info
    • Keep all your current content and the domain teannualconference2015.info
    • Keep euparticipation.org, but have it be on a completely separate site from teannualconference2015.info

Here are the steps to do that:

    1. Please confirm that you want the domain teannualconference2014.info cancelled (not the content, just the domain) and I’ll handle that for you. Please know that once it’s cancelled it will not be available for registration elsewhere for a long time (if at all) — so if you plan to use it at all in the future, we recommend not cancelling.
    2. Follow these steps to add a new WordPress.com site to your account. Name it something close to ‘euparticipation’.
    3. Visit your ‘My Upgrades’ page here: https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades
    4. Underneath “euparticipation.org” click the ‘Transfer to another site’ link to transfer that domain to your new site

Once we’ve done all that, you’ll have two separate sites with no redirects.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks a lot! All seemed to have worked well. How long does the transfer normally take to start working? For the moment when I type in euparticipation.org, it still redirects to teannualconference2015.info. But I assume it’s a matter of some time.

I confirm I want the domain teannualconference2014.info cancelled, I just need to keep its content for 2015 domain.

    Thanks again,
    Ilona

    Hi Ilona,

I cancelled teannualconference2014.info for you. The site is looking great on http://teannualconference2015.info/

How long does the transfer normally take to start working? For the moment when I type in euparticipation.org, it still redirects to teannualconference2015.info. But I assume it’s a matter of some time.

It’s usually pretty fast, a matter of minutes. But something may have been different in this case. When I visited euparticipation.org , it redirected me to euparticipation.wordpress.com . This is good, because it’s connected to the correct WordPress.com site. If you still get redirected to the wrong site, try clearing your browser cache and re-visiting euparticipation.org.

The last step is to visit here:

    https://wordpress.com/my-domains/88823330

And make http://euparticipation.org/ the Primary Domain, so your readers will stop be redirected to euparticipation.wordpress.com.

    :)

Let me know if I can help with anything else!
