How to delete all content from my blog, but keep the name to be used again?

  I’ve accidentally started a WordPress.com account, when really I should have installed WordPress.org onto my website. I’ve done that now, but don’t really want a half built blog hanging round the web detracting attention from the real blog, so I’m trying to delete the WordPress.com blog. However, if I’m reading the instructions right, if I delete it outright I will never be able to use that name again should I want to. I may well want to use that name again, so I’m trying to just delete the content, and then hide the site, so I can start from scratch one day, if I need to.

  I’ve gone to Tools > Delete Site and selected ‘Empty my site of all content’.

  Firstly, would this mean, if people search for my site, they could still find an empty blog, or would it be totally hidden from the public until I decide to use it again?

  Secondly, when I select this option, it tells me I need to contact Support and a Happiness Engineer will delete the content for me. However, the link just brings me here, where I can post a message on the forum. Is this where the Happiness Engineers live?

  you can quickly remove your contents by deleting them in bulk.

  To make the blog visibility private go to Settings > Reading

  IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content does not remove it from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months.
