How to delete an identical page but differently titled page from header??
-
Theme is CHOCO
Concern: The PAGES in the headerI edited and retitled one of my pages. I saved it and went to MENUS to put that page into the Header. I figured I had to do it that way.
PROBLEM: Now there are two pages in the header, each with different titles, but of the same text. How do I get rid of the Page that has the title that I do not want to use?

Go Appearance > Menus and remove the page you do not want from your custom menu
Edit the Page you do not want and delete it. -
Actually that is what I tried to do! I went to the Menus and looked at that array of movable horizontal bars representing the pages. I see the page with the bad title on it and I tried to delete it from that menu, but found no way to delete it! I see no Delete button and I tried just sweeping the wrongly titled bar off the menu page :-) but it did not disappear.
So although I see the correctly titled page there and the wrongly titled page, I cannot affect the menu so as to delete the wrongly titled page.
Meanwhile, my header shows two differently titled pages. If I click onto the wrong page, it leads to the correct page, but IT IS TAKING UP SPACE ON MY HEADER, which I don’t care for.

Please be calm. Go to your custom menu page. Find the Page ypu do not want. Click the far right hand corner do it opens up.
What do you see? Two links at the bottom
Click “remove”
Remove | Cancel -
Don’t forget to click “Save Menu”
Now it’s gone from the menu and you can go to your edit Pages screen and delete it permanently. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/edit-pages-screen/ -
TimeThief, I went to Dashboard > Custom Menu Page. I see the custom menu with all of the horizontal bars that represent pages.
You say to click the far right hand corner so that it opens up. But there is no far right hand corner in that menu schema. Clicking onto that movable bar only makes it ready to be moved around within the menu.
Or could it be you are referring to the original Dashboard > Pages? Because I went there when I did my edit, which included the retitling. In Pages, only the correct page with the correct title exists. The incorrect page/title is not there with the other pages.

I forgot to add:
I did click “Save”, but that menu scheme has both the correct and the incorrect title in there. It is from there that i cannot delete the incorrect title.

On your custom menu page every Page you have placed in that menu is depicted inside its own little gray rectangular box. Find the Page you do not want. Go to the far right hand corner of its own little gray rectangular it is in and click the corner. It will open. Then click “remove”.

Oh! Now I see that you meant “Click onto the down arrow next to the word PAGE.” So I decided (finally) to click “Page” (which anyone else would have done without being told) and now I have deleted that page.
Thank you. :-) :-)
