How to Delete and receive refund

  • Unknown's avatar

I got an email notifying me from Paypal that WordPress has charged me $39.

I never use this site so I wanted to check how to get my money back and delete my account. I go to delete page. Tells me to go and manage my upgrades.

I clicked on that and it took me to a new page, where I click cancel and refund.

The page takes me to where I can cancel and get my money back. Saying this: “While we hate to see you go, your purchase falls within this product’s 30 day refund policy. If you choose to cancel now, your original payment method will be refunded A$39.00.” Explaining to me that I can get a refund.

So I fill it in, click cancel custom design and wait for the email. I get the email, click on the link and it says: “Upgrade not cancelled and refunded. There was a problem refunding your payment. Please contact support”.

So I can’t delete my page or get a refund? What am I supposed to do now?

I don’t want to be charged for something that don’t use.
Wordpress emails go straight into my “junk” account so I wasn’t aware that I was getting renewed until I got my message from paypal.

    Hello,
Sorry you’re having troubles. Have you been able to contact support at:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ ?

At that address, search for something (anything, perhaps “refund”) and then you’ll see “Can’t find what you’re looking for?” at the bottom. Right there, click “Get in Touch with Support” and a form will open, letting you actually submit a ticket to someone at WordPress.com who can help with your account.

    Have a good day!

    Hi there,

I checked your account, and you successfully cancelled that renewal payment. (The renewal payment was voided before it finished, so the funds were not transferred to WordPress.com.) If you don’t see those funds returned to your PayPal account, please contact PayPal for more help with that.

Your Custom Design upgrade is scheduled to expire on August 1, 2015, so that will expire and won’t be renewed. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!

    Hi Marie,

I just issued a full refund for that Premium plan you cancelled. It may take some time for that refund to appear on your bank statement, but you can find the refund receipt now in your Billing History.

Thanks for your help. How can I delete the page now?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi daysofkaty,

You can delete that site from the bottom of your General Settings page, using the “Delete Site” option there. Please keep in mind that this is permanent and no one (including you) will be able to use the site’s address again in the future.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that.
