How to delete black bars on top and bottom of my featured image with theme ‘cubic’? I’d rather have my photos cropped than to add the bars.

Here’s the link to Cubic theme forum where you’ll find questions like this being answered.
I noticed a Happiness Engineer posted the following tip about featured images in this theme:
The recommended minimum size for featured images is 2000px by 1500px. That’ll ensure that your images don’t get stretched out on single posts, while still filling the squares on the blog grid.
That said, if you don’t have originals that large, the closer your images are to a 4:3 ratio (instead of a widescreen ratio like 16:9) the less likely you’ll get black bars on the grid.

@kulash @justjennifer Thanks, guys. It seems that I just have to crop the image to 1:1 aspect ratio first.
