How to delete .com sites (self-hosted) from dashboard
-
Hello, a couple of years ago I started several self-hosted sites using the WordPress.org software. I have deleted these sites and my hosting account – they have been closed for at least 2.5 years now. They are still showing up in my WordPress.com dashboard though which is annoying. I finally figured out how to make my new wordpress.com site the main site in the dashboard (as I realised that whenever I commented on anything my profile showed a site that was no longer active which can’t be helping my blog traffic!)
How do I delete the other sites from the dashboard? They have warning signs next to them to show they are no longer active but there is no way to delete them that I can see. I have removed all content from them and closed them and want them gone from my account entirely.
Can anyone help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, only staff can delete websites from the Dashboard. I have tagged this topic with “modlook” tag, so staff will help you very soon :)

Tag searches are always productive. I have made a 9 year investment in making they are lol :D example: remove self hosted sites from account

@tt-Unless I misunderstood, users can disconnect live sites themselves; Staff need still to remove the dead ones. See @lizthefair’s reply here:

I can remove the dead sites for you. There are 4 Jetpack sites in your account. Which ones do you want removed? Please list the URLs. Thanks!

Hello, thank you. The sites I would like removed are:
littlebritamerican.com
momswithocd.com
british-and-american.comThe other one is not in use any more but am I right in thinking that I have to keep it here in case I ever want to use a self-hosted site again using that domain name? Or is it only WordPress.com sites that you can never re-use the domain name? If I will be able to register the domain and use it again if I want to even if it deleted from the dashboard then please delete that too – it is burntsupper.com – otherwise please leave it there as I may upgrade in the future.
Many thanks.

I’ve removed the first three sites for you.

Removing a self-hosted site from your dashboard has very little impact on the site itself, it just breaks the jetpack connection so the site doesn’t show up on your site list when you log into WordPress.com. You can delete and re-add jetpack connections to the same domain as often as you like.
Additionally, the rule about not recycling domain names only applies to domains ending in .wordpress.com. There are other challenges with getting domains back once you cancel them, but those processes are universal, not policies of WordPress.com.
With that information, please let me know if you’d like me to remove the site.
