How to delete comment box and date
-
If I purchase the $30 upgrade in the Manifest theme, would I be able to get rid of the date, the comment box, and the search box?
Thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The date is embedded in the URL of every post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-title-url/ You can use CSS editing to remove it from displaying on the post.
This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
We can also override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page.Go to the top right hand corner of your Admin page and click “screen options” and enable the “Discussion” module there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/
Pages > disable and enable comments > http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/#enabling-and-disabling-comments-using-the-discussion-module
Edit page and under the editor box scroll down until you find the “Discussion Module”
locate and disable these:
Discussion
__Allow comments.
__Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.
Click “update”Depending on the theme we use when we close comments a phrase like “comments closed” or a similar phrase may appear and if so, it can only be removed by CSS editing after purchasing a custom design upgrade.

Thank you timethief! I have tried going to Settings > Discussion but that didn’t work. I don’t mind paying for the $30 upgrade but I wanted to make sure that if I spend the money, I would absolutely be able to remove the comment box and search box.
Thank you!

What do you mean it didn’t work? The instructions for disabling comments I provided do work. Disabling comments on posts and pages does work on all blogs here.

I’ve unchecked “Allow people to comment on news articles” and yet the darn comment box is still there
-
I’ve also gone into “Screen Options” but there’s nothing related to comments there that can be unchecked :(
-
The word to look for is “Discussion”
Posts – Post Tags, Categories, Excerpt, Send Trackbacks, Discussion, Comments, Post Slug, Post Author, Post Revisions
Page – Page Attributes, Recommendations, Featured Image, Discussion, Comments, Slug, Author, Revisions -
I’ve unchecked “Allow people to comment on news articles” and yet the darn comment box is still there
That only changes the default setting which is used for future posts you create after the setting is updated.
To turn off comments for already existing posts or pages, you need to do it from the edit page for each post or page.

You sure can. Here is an example of CSS you could use to hide dates, comment links, comment boxes, and the search box on the Manifest theme:
.post-date, .comments, #respond, #searchform { display: none; }Note that it’s better to turn off comments how timethief suggested instead of using “#respond” in the example above.
