How to Delete Images from i2.wp.com?
-
Hello,
I am the owner of Metal Wani (www.metalwani.com). There’s an image that’s appearing under i2.wp.com even though I had already deleted the image from the hosting/FTP more than 2 weeks ago.
In my hosting server, the image is already deleted. Link here: https://metalwani.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gilbyclarke.jpg?fit=790%2C593&ssl=1
Still, the image shows up under the following links:
https://i2.wp.com/metalwani.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gilbyclarke.jpg?fit=790%2C593&ssl=1
https://i0.wp.com/metalwani.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gilbyclarke.jpg?fit=790%2C593&ssl=1
https://i1.wp.com/metalwani.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gilbyclarke.jpg?fit=790%2C593&ssl=1
I don’t understand why the image is appearing again. Would you please be so kind and delete it?
Kind regards
Metal Wani

Hi there,
I see we already helped with that via live chat. Should you have any more questions or need additional help, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re always here and happy to help.

Hey there,
Thank for letting us know the images are still there, we are still seeing the image on your site at https://metalwani.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gilbyclarke.jpg. You will need to delete the source image in order for the CDN image purge to be successful.
Please let us know once the image is deleted from your site, and we can purge the CDN cache again to ensure it is removed quickly.
Hope this helps!

Hi @staff-dragon,
Thanks for the response. This is really strange. The image is already deleted from the site. If you open the link in Incognito mode it says “404 Not Found”. I am surprised to hear from you that you still see the image in the website even though it’s deleted 18 days ago. Can you send me the screenshot of the photo you see when you click the link(https://metalwani.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/gilbyclarke.jpg)?

Hi @staff-dragon @fstat
It’s been more than 30 hours and there’s no change. I can still see the images in CDN. I repeat the source image on the website is already deleted on Dec 30th.

Can you please address this concern?

Hi @metalwaniindia I have taken the extra step of doublechecking and removing any copies of the file that are in our global cache. It can be a few hours until you will see those removed on your end but please let us know if you continue to see them after that, thanks!
-
Hi again @metalwaniindia is it the case that this image is still located in your media library?
We are not able to remove it from our global cache while the original is still in your media library in this case. Images are added to the cache automatically, so they will continue to re-populate everytime we try to purge it.
Please let us know when you have deleted the image permanently from your media library and we will be happy to remove it from our cache. Thanks!

Hi @staff-totoro
We noticed the image was still available in the library after we clicked on the link you shared in your previous reply. Now, the image has been deleted now permanently in the media library. Can you please check if it is appearing again? If not, can you please remove the below different versions of the image from global cache?

The links you shared no longer seem to be loading the images. Can you check them again? (If you still see the images, they might be cached locally on your end or your ISP’s end. If so, please wait a few hours and visit those links again.)
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

“We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched” so they are clearly deleted.

Hi there,
I see all 4 images are no longer visible. Can you please confirm if they are permanently deleted in CDN?
Yes, they have been deleted from our cache. If you still have any links where the image shows up, please share the link with us, and we’ll take a look.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.
