How To Delete My Account

I deleted my blogs, so now I want to delete my accout to make a new one because I want to rename it.

Accounts are never deleted. Simply create a new account while NOT logged into the old account.

This seems like a security issue; what if I need to delete my account because of privacy concerns?
There should be a way to delete it.

nope, you have to have a different e-mail account for your new account…unless you go into your old account, and change it to another e-mail and then when you create your new account you can use your old e-mail

I wish I knew that before I started my new blog, but I don’t have another e-mail to transfer it to. Oh well.

just goto yahoo or hotmail or something, it takes 2 minutes to create a meaningless e-mail account.

nah, I don’t do Yahoo. Besides, I have my blog and I’m keeping it! btw, how do you change the top of page where it has stuff about your site, like the patterns ‘n stuff. Do they have pre-made ones?

apologies if this is the wrong place, but I have an account I created ages back for a blog which only ever had one post on it, before I abandoned the project it was related to. I want my email address back ( I used my usual one rather than an email address specifically for this project/blog) and I’ve now deleted the blog, but you’re telling me that I can’t delete my profile in order to create a new one with a more generic username and still use my usual email address? Seems a bit unfriendly on wordpress’ part if you can never physically delete your user account. What happened to the Data Protection Act?

ah, sod it, luckily I have a spare email address I can swap this existing account to…still think there’s a DPA issue with keeping accounts permanentl though ;)

ok, so how long do you have to wait after clicking the confirmation link in the email for the bloody thing to actually update to the new email address? I want this thing moved so I can reuse my proper email address for something else – really, it shouldn’t be this difficult for a system as mature as wordpress.com :(

You DO know you can change your displayed username? In your Profile, it’s Nickname. You put in what you want to appear as your name, click to save, then it’ll appear as an option in a drop-down list, along with your current username. Then you select the new nickname and away you go. Note that your original username always shows up in the forum, no matter what.

Just start a new account with a different email address, or change the email address on the old account and then use the same email address for the new account.
