    Domain mapping is not done free of charge. It requires an upgraded plan.

    How domain mapping works
    Registering an underlying .wordpress.com URL first is required for domain mapping. That underlying URL does not have to match the domain URL when you are domain mapping. What domain mapping does is providing a seamless redirect to the very same content under the new domain URL when a person clicks the old URL .wordpress.com to the original content.     I’ll be happy to help sort this out. To do so, I’ll need more details about what you’re having trouble with specifically.

    To add a new FREE .wordpress.com site to your account click on My Sites > Switch Site > Add New WordPress

    There can be multiple sites under one account.

    The email listed at wordpress.com/me/account/ is the one connected to your user account. If that’s not correct you can update it from that link.
