How to delete one of my two blogs

  • Unknown's avatar

I have 2 blogs – I wish to get rid of one. How do I get rid of one – “Can’t Have it Both Ways” – without destroying “Witches Will” which I want to keep? The one I wish to delete is constantly causing problems with the other and I don’t wish to use it anymore.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

You can delete a site by following this guide: Delete Site

However, keep in mind that deleting a site is permanent and can’t be undone. Also, that blog’s address (kenoshamarge.wordpress.com) can’t ever be used again, by you or anyone else, after the blog is deleted. If you’re sure you want to delete it, you can start the process under Tools > Delete Site in the blog’s dashboard.

If you just want to hide the blog so it isn’t visible to any visitors (unless you invite them), you can set the site to private. We have more information about those settings here: Privacy Settings

The one I wish to delete is constantly causing problems with the other and I don’t wish to use it anymore.

Can you explain what kinds of problems you experienced? The two blogs are not connected, except that they are both on your WordPress.com account, so they shouldn’t cause problems with each other. I’d be happy to investigate any problems you’re having. :)

I will be working on my second blog, “Witch’s Will” and suddenly I have to “log in” to my first blog, “Can’t Have It Both Ways”. I don’t understand how that can be if they are not connected.

And the first blog never accepts the same password twice forcing me to use the “lost password” tactic and come up with a new password every time. It happens at least once a week and has been that way for over a year. It isn’t something I can’t work around but it is annoying. And the response is always that if I delete “Can’t Have It Both Ways” that I will in effect be deleting “kenoshamarge.wordpress.com” and I don’t want to do that. I guess I’m just stuck with it. Thanks for trying to help.

    Hi there,

I will be working on my second blog, “Witch’s Will” and suddenly I have to “log in” to my first blog, “Can’t Have It Both Ways”. I don’t understand how that can be if they are not connected.

When you log in, you’re actually logging in to your WordPress.com account. You don’t have individual login details for each blog — just a single username and password for your account itself.

It sounds like you might be getting logged out of your account while you’re working on your blog, and then you’re being asked to log in again. If that’s the case, it would help to know exactly what you’re working on and what message comes up on the screen asking you to log in — that will help me understand what’s happening here.

And the first blog never accepts the same password twice forcing me to use the “lost password” tactic and come up with a new password every time.

Since both of your blogs use the same log-in details, if you change your password while logging in to one blog, that will also change your password for when you want to log in to work on the other blog. In other words, you’ll need to use the same username and password to log in to both blogs, so any time you change your password it will change the password for your whole account.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that.
