How to delete pictures from gallery?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I wanted to delete pictures from my gallery because I wanted to make two slideshows with different images each obviously but what I get is all the images that I’ve uploaded in both slideshows.

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Anything you upload directly to a post or page will be included in the WordPress Slideshow. (In that regard it’s not like the Gallery and there’s no mechanism for excluding photos.)

So, if you want to use the Slideshow, only upload the photos you want to have in that specific Slideshow.

By the way, it would really help if you would give the URL of your WordPress.com blog you have a question about when you post, since it isn’t linked to your username.

Thanks. My blog is my username at wordpress.com.

“So, if you want to use the Slideshow, only upload the photos you want to have in that specific Slideshow.”

Yes, but if I can’t exclude the photos I have uploaded how can I do that?

    Thanks again.

It is per post. So create a post, then upload the photos you want in that slideshow to that post. Do not upload any others at that time.

    Insert your slideshow.

When you upload other photos to a different post, they will not be in the slideshow on the previous post, but they will be in your Media Gallery. Does that make sense?

I wanted to have a mix in a post I did yesterday, but to get around the problem as described by Jennifer, I had to have two posts – one with the slideshow and one with the still pictures. You can see what I mean at http://teamoyeniyi.wordpress.com/2011/03/02/slideshow-of-doha-qatar/ which is the slideshow and the post before it has the still pics.

@casadascoisas Since there’s no exclude in a slideshow, you’ll have to delete the photos from the Media Library to remove them from the slideshow.

Just be forewarned that any other images you upload to that same post where the slideshow appears will be included in the slideshow. This also includes any photos you upload directly to the Media Library and then insert to that slideshow post.

Also @teamoyenini a workaround to the above problem is to upload the additional images to a previously published post, but not to insert the images in that post. It’s just being used to upload the photos.

After the upload you can close the post you used to upload the photos and return to the original post where the slideshow is and insert the additional photos from the Media Library.

After the upload, you can also use “insert from URL” with the URL of the image in the Media Library. I find this less “user friendly” as there are sometimes resizing issues.

All of this is a result of uploaded images becoming “attached” to whatever post they are uploaded to.

@CAUSADASCOSIAS I had the same problem and this is how i found this forum thread. I think i found the perfect remedy to your problem, If it is actually a gallery that you need and not a slideshow here is a way of getting the photos you want within the post and the order and you can have anything else in the post and you wont have to worry about if you add image later or before to the same post.

Its simply doing it the long way… Calculate and size the image to the gallery size you want to display it either using photoshop or using the advance settings when you are uploading your pic, If you can use photoshop or any other photoediting software i would suggest that that resizing all the images to a particular dimension which may distort and ill-proportion the image.

Then insert them one by one by selecting the LEFT alignment in the insert option for all the pics that you need in the gallery. Doing it this way is a bit longer but it works out perfect as you can add images after and it doesn’t matter if you had add images before.

I used this method to add extra menu buttons to the bottom of my welcome page and it works out fine u can take a look at it at http://www.RichieDrenzBlog.com to see if that is ideally what you have wanted to do. I do hope you find this information at least worth knowing. Happy Blogging
