How to delete the unwanted extra vertical list of my page names from home page?
-
I am using the Academica theme. My 10 page names appear on top of each page, but also appear vertically on the home page. This is a duplication that I do not want to appear on the left side of the home page. How can I remove this unwanted list of my page names from the home page? This is not a blog. I am using WordPress to create a website. I don’t want any of the blog features, just all static pages which I have defined.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
How can I remove this unwanted list of my page names from the home page?
No problem. The list you see is a widget that appears only on the homepage of your site. To remove this widget, just go to Appearance > Widgets and locate the Sidebar Homepage (left) widget area on the right, and click on the header bar to expose the widgets contained within it.
You will see a widget called Pages: Start Here and you can remove it by clicking on the header bar (to expose the widget setting) and then click on the delete link.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I’m a first time user of WordPress to create a blog and I was able to do so in less than a day. I don’t know how the widget landed on my home page – I didn’t do it – but it’s good to know that there is a knowledgeable community and staffers who can provide help when needed. I removed the widget and all is well.

Depending on the theme you use, widgets are often added automatically. This is often a help to users who are trying to configure the site to be like the demo, though in your case I can see why it would be confusing. :)
