How To Determine A WordPress Theme Featured Image Size?

    HI all!

I’ve got a new website I’m working on at ziine.co here. I’m currently running it on my all time go to theme – Colinear. This theme is a classic theme that has been around forever as long as I remember being here on this platform, and I love using it.

The only thing is, I know that WordPress is changing by leaps and bounds these days, and who knows what the future holds for classic themes in regards to blocks and Gutenberg. I hate to admit it, but I realize I need to research on newer block themes and make considerations to change my entire website structure to something more modern, even though I love the old fashioned blog style that Colinear offers.

With all of that said, and while I start looking for a potential new theme to try such as this one – https://wordpress.org/themes/newspaper-builder/

… I am curious to know if there is a way to determine what is the image size a theme requires. I know that for Colinear, the feature image size is 1200 X 675. I know that because that was in the theme’s description at one point. As I am looking at newer themes recently, I’m not seeing this type of information available, and I wonder, if I switch my theme to something new, such as the one I posted above, will the current featured images I have up so far going to work, or am I going to run into an issue where I would have to completely redesign the images to work with a new theme?

Thanks for your help, and yes I already know I will have to upgrade my plan to install a new theme, which leads me to another question (sorry lol)…. some time ago I remember it was posted that on the higher plan, there was a way to install and test or modify a theme before making the theme active on your website. Is that still available?

    Thanks again for your help!

  • For any theme, the featured image size may differ, but also can change based on how you set up the site. This theme you linked does not list the size, but you can always take a look at a demo or try the theme out, then check out the example image sizes, or we can help take a look.

Ok thank you everyone. I guess I will have to unpack the zip file to see if there may be a txt file with the info.
