How to Determine Who My Followers Are

Hello, I recently switched a medical update blog over to WordPress and had to individually invite followers since it is private. A number of people have been requesting access to my site but I have no idea if I know them or not, as their user names are indistinguishable from their identity. On my last site (PostHope) I was able to see their email addresses which helped sort it out a little better but I can’t seem to do that here. Any ideas on how to know who is who? Thanks!

Note: I am not talking about people who choose to follow by email. Since my blog is private, people must request access to it and create a user name and password in order to do that. Most of the user names I have not been able to distinguish the person’s identity from and therefore don’t know if I should accept them or not. I thought that if I could see their email I might be able to figure out who they are and screen requests that way but I haven’t found a way to see their email address. Hope this makes sense!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @eilthir, we don’t reveal much personal information about our users unless they’ve opted to show that data. You might check (theirname).wordpress.com to see if they mention who they are there, or go to http://en.gravatar.com/(theirname) to see if they’ve revealed more information there. If you don’t recognize the username and your site is for friends only, you might avoid adding them.

Have you considered proactively inviting the followers you’d like instead? You can o that on the “Invite” tab here:
