How to disable new stats/editor
-
There has been much criticism of the new statistics page and the new post editor that appear again and again. I do not want to use neither of them. I wonder how we can switch them off altogether? — Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
There is no way to permanently turn off either the stats page or the editor. You can opt out of the editor with a cookie by clicking the link at the bottom of the sidebar to return to the classic editor.
-
Thanks!
As those features have drawn a lot of criticism: Is there a way to vote for introducing a switch so we can turn these features off in the future once and for all?
-
I would like to choose the new editor. Starting a new post he appears. Editing the same post later the old editor appears. Why?

Well, we’re not a democracy, but I have a logged your request for our developers.
Starting a new post he appears. Editing the same post later the old editor appears. Why?
If you click on the pencil icon in the upper right, you will always be taken to the new editor.

Thank you, Shawna. That’s probably the WordPress.com equivalent of voting for bugs in a bug tracker we know from other software projects. It would be great if you please could make it possible to switch off all this new stuff. I appreciate to work with wordpress.org standards.

There are two old Stats pages and they are both available from the classic dashboard. You can go directly to the classic dashboard by logging in here: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?.
The old Stats pages are
1. https://Your_Blog_Name.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats (replace with the name of your blog). The link is found in the dashboard admin panel in the “Dashboard” drop-down menu (clock symbol).
2. https://wordpress.com/my-stats/ (kinda old, “super classic”). The link for the “old Stats” page with the map is through the classic dashboard then click “View All” on the Stats module.
Or just add a bookmark to a bookmarks toolbar.
Classic Notifications Page: https://wordpress.com/notifications/
Classic Editor is cookie dependent, so you must click to use the classic editor (link in the new Beep Boop editor) and it will last until you delete your cookies. You can bookmark this link: https://Your_Blog_Name.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php (replace with the name of your blog).

Timethief, thank you for providing these links!
I will blog about this in a few days, and I still wonder why WordPress.com makes it so hard for us to use the platform as any other WordPress interface.

Changing the format for posting on WP blogs was the DUMBEST IDEA EVER!!!! I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate it. Have I mentioned how much I hate it!???
It takes me at LEAST three times longer to post an article now than it used to. I get errors. Posts don’t show up on the home page and I don’t know where the hell they are. This is a complete and UTTER mess. And I’m not a stranger to running a website. I have several that I run for small businesses. WP is a disaster!!!

As you read above you cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. I don’t use it at all. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and for for viewing classic stats pages see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

Count me as another who doesn’t like the new format, especially for creating new posts. I have a system that I use to make sure I’ve checked everything for spelling and other things. The new format totally throws that off. I don’t mind learning new things, but the new format does not allow me to be as thorough and careful as I want to be. I do not like it and do not want it. This may not be a democracy, as you say. But if you want us to stay, you might want to pay a bit of attention to our comments.

I need help. Your new design has severely impacted how easily I can add a post. I cannot find my categories or tags. Without warning or training, you made major changes to how I post on my blog. I have clicked on the link you provided that supposedly would take me back to the old format. It is dead and does not work. You have really taken the joy out of blogging with this latest change. There’s nothing to help with this transition – at least none that you’ve provided that work. What were you thinking?
-
I need to see my Tags and all of my Categories to correctly post. I do not want to create duplications! Show me how to see ALL OF THEM. I cannot choose them without seeing what hierarchy I have created. Surely there is some way to do this.

@ timethief,
The link for the “old Stats” page with the map is through the classic dashboard then click “View All” on the Stats module.
What is and where is the “Stats module,” where we are supposed to see “View All”?
-
The link for the “old stats” is easy to find. I cannot find my old tags or categories – only a partial list. I need them ALL to make sure I don’t create duplications.

@musicdoc1, I made a post with lots of screenshots, two show the “View All” on the Stats module on the classic dashboard: https://dandelionsalad.wordpress.com/2015/04/06/where-are-the-stats-pages-on-wordpress-com-blogs-by-lo/

Thanks, musicdoc. Hope it helps for some WP bloggers. Many don’t even know that we can change the color scheme on the classic dashboard, so I added that info as well as how to log in and out.
Also made a blog post for how to find and use the classic editor and never use the Beep, Beep, Boop ever again: https://dandelionsalad.wordpress.com/2015/04/01/how-to-use-the-classic-editor-on-wordpress-com-blogs-and-never-see-the-beep-beep-boop-editor-again-by-lo/

I too would love to switch off the new site design and just use the old one.
When I point this out, I’m asked what specific improvements I want – well – make it the old one!
That works fine, looks better, shows more information, and is more flexible. Drop the redesign entirely – it’s a disaster.
