How to disable the backstretch plugin?
-
Hi,
I’m about to launch a new version of my blog, using a new theme (Harmonic) and I bought the premium package in order to be able to adjust some technicalities. One of them is the header image that adjusts automatically to the browser’s width. The principle is cool but it ruins my banner by croping the image at the top and the bottom when it’s displayed on a large screen. I’m fairly new to CSS code but I think it’s caused by the backstretch plugin. Am I right? If so, how can I disable this thing or at least modify it in a way that doesn’t affect the integrity of the top and bottom of the image? Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, at WordPress.com, we cannot disable the javascript that controls the size and cropping of the header image. I narrowed and widened my browser window, and at least it keeps the text in the center where it is readable on smaller screens.
Harmonic’s header is designed for photographic images where the resizing and cropping aren’t an issue. With header images where you want to keep the entire image visible, it simply doesn’t do well.
I can get the image not to crop and just resize, but then on smaller screens you can’t read the text on the image, and there is a large gap between the image and the content below which would require at least several Media Queries to adjust at different screen/window widths. I’ve done this before and it gets pretty messy since it is difficult to hit all the screen sizes since there are now so many different sizes and resolutions out there (320, 480, 600, 800, 768 and 1024 just to name a few).

Thanks a lot, thesacredpath :) At least, I won’t spend useless energy to fix this problem. I’ll consider a new theme instead.
