How to disable the viewing of sub categories in the sidebar

  I would like to have a category section on my website, but I do not want all the subcategories to show. For example, I would like it to read GENRE (and then when you click that, a list appears that shows all the genre names)

  GENRE
  -horror
  -action
  -comedy etc
  but I do not want the dashed ones to appear unless you click on the genre category

  I’m afraid that what you’re asking isn’t currently possible – you can either always show the sub categories, or never show them:
