How to display complete carousel captions without having to click "i"
-
I have a (mostly photos) blog in which I often used the “Tiled mosaic” style gallery. I encourage readers to “click the first photo” to see the larger versions in carousel format. I don’t like how the captions work, however. If captions are beyond a certain length, the viewer has to click the “i” icon to see the remaining text. This results in (1) the image moving up (obscuring part of it) and (2) the incomplete and (3) the complete caption both being displayed. Is there a way to reduce the size of the image so the entire image is visible plus the whole caption is displayed without the reader having to click “i”? Or–less desired–have the entire caption displayed/layered over the bottom of the image? Or some other solution so the user doesn’t have to do anything to see complete captions once in the carousel? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,
It is not possible to customize the behaviour of how captions are displayed in galleries, that is hard-coded into our service in a way that can’t be modified.
One option you can consider is to add a 3rd party gallery plugin instead, which may offer the look you are after. https://wordpress.com/plugins/?s=gallery
To use plugins will mean that you need to upgrade to our Pro plan, however. It is not possible to add plugins under your Premium Plan.
