how to display feature images on a child page in Sela

Hello, i am experimenting with the grid page (parent page) for my portfolio projects. However i dont understand the required dimensions for this feature image, nor how to add additional images to the child page. If the feature image has to be as wide as the child page (which is now set to default), how do you select the part that you want to be visable of the grid page? The Sela support page recommends a width of 1180 pixels for images on the front page and pages, though doesn’t say anything about the height. I think the overlapping of the title seen on your page https://hauteculturefashion.wordpress.com/portfolio-projects/tribal-vest/, for example, might be due to the height being greater than the width.
Behaviors seen with respect to the feature images in the grid page at the Sela demo suggest that the theme prefers feature images in which the width is about 2.7 times the height. A comparison of the scaled versions of the feature images seen on the grid page vs. the feature images on the pages included in the grid illustrate an oddity. The height of the images are cropped, top and bottom, in the latter by (according to my calculation) a total of 45%. The height of a feature image after the automatic cropping in each case with the pages linked to on the grid page in the demo is 443 pixels. The full sized grid page feature images are nowhere to be found in the demo.

Hello, thank you for your response but i need more specific instructions on how to solve the problem. I am referring to this link https://hauteculturefashion.wordpress.com/portfolio-projects/45-2/ not the tribal vest. Someone one on a previous thread also said the image has to be 1180 pixels wide but i cant see where it says that information. How many pixels high should it be? the white text box is overlapping the image. This is my first WordPress site and i have only had it 1 week so any more guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From the Quick Specs at the bottom of the Sela support page:4. The featured image on the front page and on pages works best with images at least 1180 wide.
5. Featured Images for posts should be at least 820 wide by 312.I am referring to this link https://hauteculturefashion.wordpress.com/portfolio-projects/45-2/ not the tribal vest.
I noticed that you referred specifically to that post, yet I thought the error that you mention with regard to that post, “The title box is now over lapping the image,” might refer to an error I noticed at the tribal vest post where the feature image was partially obscured by the title (Now the feature image has been removed on that post).
What do you mean by the “the title box”? Are you referring to “Portfolio and Projects” drop-down menu? If so, that a header area drop-down menu might overlap images and/or post or page content while in use is typical, not at all unusual.

I originally thought you meant that the feature image of the post “Denim Shorts” is overlapping the title of that post. But I don’t see this happening.

Sorry, I meant “project” or page in each case where I said “post” in the previous two comments.

i wonder, can you stop the feature image from appearing on the child page?
This would, I think, involve CSS customization, requiring the custom design upgrade.

Hi, thanks for all your feedback, i have looked at the links you sent and can see that the child posts behind the grid page uses the feature image across the full width at the top of the page. I dont think it works for my portfolio, and i dont want to upgrade, so tomorrow i will try another page for the layout of my portfolio. When i say the title box over lapps the image, i mean when you click through onto the child page the white box with the projects title cuts into the image https://hauteculturefashion.wordpress.com/portfolio-projects/45-2/, i understand now that this is just the design of the page and not a error. Thank you for you advice :)

Sorry. I understood that correctly, but I said it backwards in this post. Still not seeing any overlapping of the feature image by the projects (page) title box at https://hauteculturefashion.wordpress.com/portfolio-projects/45-2/. The cropping of the header image height, top and bottom, happens in every case I’ve seen with this theme.

I should have said cropped in every case in which the original image has a height greater than 443 pixels. You previously used a shorter one which displayed full height. Good luck on your new page. Let us know if you have any more questions. :)

Thanks, for future reference i just realised i saw a overlapping text box because i was not using full screen mode. I am now and the problem has stopped :)
