how to display in the address bar my godaddy domain instead of the wordpress.com

    i called go daddy and they said in order for them to change the domain url they will need my wordpress website ip address. Kindly provide?

    Hi –

    In order to point that domain to your WordPress.com site you’ll need to upgrade the plan on the account. This will allow you to map the domain or transfer it to WordPress.com.

    1. domain mapping (GoDaddy remains as the domain registrar):
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    GoDaddy will set the mapping up through DNS changes to the name server records. That is the best way to map a domain, not through an IP. Those IPs change over time, and when that happens your site will go down until they make the update. Review step #2 in those instructions linked above.

    2. domain transfer (we take over as domain registrar):
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

    Hello, Thank you for your response. I already upgraded my plan to premium in wordpress and mapped/set it up with my godaddy / wordpress server names. Do I need to wait for few hours to see the change? coz It still redirect me to the extension .wordpress.com on my website address when i search my domain

    Name servers changes can take up to 48 hours to fully update, so don’t worry if yachslawncare.com doesn’t point here straight away. Visiting this domain now takes me to your WordPress.com site — please try clearing your browser cache if you are still seeing the old one:

    Browsers sometimes cache DNS but following those steps should help flush the old settings out.
