How to display several posts on home page (without the button "more posts"?

The Rowling theme display suggests that SEVERAL recent posts thumbnails appear automatically on the home page. But I get only one and have to use the button “more posts” to see more post thumbnails. What to do?
Thanks, Michael

Hi TimeThief:
here’s the URL:
I’ve switched to a different theme now, but the “problem” is the same. Only the latest post is displayed. I’m normally working with “Blogger,” and there you have the option to set the number of post displayed on the main page. Do you have an equivalent function in WordPress?
Thanks, Michael

Hi again,
Have you consulted your detailed theme description page for this site https://gayflashfiction.com/ that is wearing the Twenty Sixteen theme https://wordpress.com/theme/twentysixteen?

Hi, On Rowling, if you have your front page set to display your blog posts, you can activate the Infinite Scroll option turned on, then Rowling will show about 8 posts on your main page. When someone scrolls down near the bottom, the software will detect that and will then load an additional set of posts and continue that behavior till all of your posts have been shown.
If you go into My Sites > Settings > Writing and scroll down to Theme Enhancements, you can activate Infinite Scroll.
