How to display two separate post sections in sidebar
-
I use a widget to display my most recent blog posts (I believe this is a built-in WordPress app; 6-9 depending upon month) in the left sidebar. I “require” certain program participants to review all of these posts. I also want to be able to post other “optional” posts but want these two ‘types’ of posts to be displayed in the left sidebar under different sections (i.e. “Required” and “Optional”). How can I do this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You’ve reached support for the free blogs hosted at WordPress.com. The site you’ve indicated, lapdbluelife.com, is running a self-hosted/installed version of WordPress (using the free WordPress.org software).
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. You can read more about that here:

In regard to your question, you can try adding a Text Widget to your Sidebar, and use an unordered list of links to the Optional Posts you wish to display:

Alternatively, you use install the Jetpack plugin and the Links widget:
You’d assign the Optional Link Category to any posts you’d want to include in the widget, and then configure the widget to only display those posts.
