How to do an HTTP GET within a blog page?

  Niewbie question…

  I’ve a free wordpress blog http://fairlandpark.wordpress.com, where i’m trying to do an HTTP GET to an external site to retrieve some data to show on the blog page, but can’t get anything to work. Can anyone help with how to do that or if its possible?

  In fact, i can’t even get any Javascript code to run and the code is just rendered as text on the blog page, you can see here: http://fairlandpark.wordpress.com/iot

  What am i doing wrong?
