  I have a page that I use as a booklist. I would like to be able to search it for authors or subjects that are in the listing. Right now to find stuff it is necessary to scroll through the whole thing which is getting longer all the time.

  Maybe you could use your browser’s search facility to find the relevant text? For example in my version of Firefox, menu Edit->Find lets me find any text on the web page.
