How to do Simple Hard Returns?????

  Dear Experts,

  I’d like to put some simple hard returns into my post. Like this:

  some text.

  Five hard returns later, more text.

  But WordPress software keeps jerking around.

  I’ve used the GUI.
  And in the Text area:

   

  As soon as I save it, WordPress keeps stripping it all away. I’ve spent a good half hour trying to do the simple business now, and I’m really angry.

  What is the secret to doing this very simple and fundamental bit of word processing in WordPress?

  And, now that I’ve put the post online, the hard returns that I had inserted into the post, have also been stripped out.

  And, the HTML examples that I detailed, have also been stripped out.

  I can’t even show an example.

  How useless!
