How to edit a post without updating RSS
-
Hello,
Whenever I have something I want to correct in one of my older posts, RSS gets updated so that my RSS subscribers get notified as if I’ve published a new post, while this was only a minor change to an old post – which must be very annoying to them.
I’ve read somewhere about he minor changes plugin which enables to make a minor edit without updating the subscriber’s RSS:However, I haven’t been able to find such a solution for WordPress.com.
Anybody knows what I can do to make corrections to old posts without updating my RSS stream?
Thanks,

Hello,
While there is no obvious solution to your problem, you may want to test the following:
As private posts are not inserted in the RSS feed, you could edit the post, AND make it private at the same time.
In a second time, make it public again WITHOUT any content edit.
Not sure 100%, but it is worth trying.
Please let me know if this worked for you.

And here are the details :-)

A pretty lame solution, I guess. But at least it works, so I don’t complain, thanks :)
I think the solution which has been suggested and tested in the past is making the whole blog private. Anyway, I’ll try those two options next time the problem arises – don’t want to unnecessarily anger my subscribers again…
Thanks,

RSS didn’t used to update every time you edited something. It’s rather irritating for people who blog about current events and update their posts several times. Well, I suppose it’s more irritating for the subscribers, but the Private/Unprivate workaround isn’t too complex.
