    Hi there, to make these changes, you will need to upgrade to the WordPress.com Premium or WordPress.com Business plans, which include the Custom Design feature. You can learn more about those here. You can try out the Premium plan for 30 days to see if it is right for you by going to Store > Store in your dashboard and at the top you will see the “Try” button.

    You can add a copyright or additional text either above or below the existing footer credits. The existing footer credits have to remain as is, and cannot be removed or modified. The following CSS can be used to add a line of text above the existing credits.

    .site-info:before {
        content: "This is my copyright";
        display: block;
    }

    If you wish for the text to be after the existing credits, change before in the above to after.

    To tighten up the spacing on the menu items, you can adjust the right margin on the menu items with the following. The existing spacing is 32px, so adjust that value as desired.

    .main-navigation li {
    margin-right: 32px;
    }

    If you try out the Premium plan, you would go to Appearance > Customize > CSS, delete all the informational text in that window, and paste in the above custom CSS.

    What code would you use to hyperlink that “this is my copyright” text?

    Alright thanks a lot. I finally decided to upgrade to wordpress.org

    @afrolyrics, CSS won’t accept HTML, so there is no way to link that line of text here at WordPress.com.

    Best of luck with your WordPress.org site. If you need assistance with that, you can post in the WordPress.org Support Forums.
