how to edit pdf files which have been uploaded on Word Press?

1. A while ago, I uploaded a pdf file on Word Press.
2. Now, I need to edit that pdf file.
3. How can I edit it and keep the same URL for it?

Bad news for you. You can’t. You need FTP access to be able to do that and FTP access is not allowed here.
I have many PDF files on my site – I never send out a link to the file, I only send out a link to the Post or Page the file is referenced on. I also many times will put a note on the Page or Post about when the file was last updated

But you are a bit over my head:
(1) So can you send me an illustration of how you handle the pdf’s you write? I.e., send me a link to the post or page your pdf file is referenced on, and I’ll see if I can figure out your procedures.
(2) Also, if I go to my Word Press “Media Page” [which is where I uploaded the pdf file a while ago] and press “Delete Permanently” will that delete it from the FTP website?
And people will get a 404 notice?

1) This Post does not have any changes to the PDF file, But if I made a change to the PDF file I would put a note next to it “Revised Dec 04, 2013” or words to that effect
http://captnmike.com/2011/11/13/tvmdc-%E2%80%93-practice-%E2%80%93-correcting-and-un-correcting-the-compass/2) Yes the file will be deleted from your Media Library, sometimes files are cached by WordPress.COM servers for 2 or 3 days – so during that time if someone had a direct link they MIGHT be able to see the file.
If you use the method I do – people only have a link to the Post or Page the file is on, so if you delete the file odds are they would not be able to find it even during the cache clearing time since most people don’t save the full file path

But I forgot to tell you where the PDF file was – page down and it is below the table – says Printer Friendly PDF File

So, if I understand correctly:
1. You make your pdf files and upload them on wordpress.
2. But the only link to it anyone ever gets to that pdf file is to your blog page.
3. So if you need to revise the pdf file, you just delete the one you previously uploaded and prepare a new one.Right?
