How to edit the footer.php file?
-
Hi,
I need to include Google Analytics code in my blog. I have read that it should be included in the footer.php for example. I should go to Presentation -> theme. However, when I’m there, there is no footer file, just themes… can anyone help me?
Thanks.

We cannot access our underlying templates or edit them at wordpress.com
This is a multi-user blogging platform. If you could edit your footer then whatever you changed would be likewise changed on all other blogs with the same theme. If you want that kind of flexibility then your best bet is to hire a web host and download free standing software from http://wordpress.orgWordPress.com already runs google analytics on our blogs here and google allows only one urchin script to run at a time. Therefore we cannot have blogger initiated google analytics on our blogs. Once again if this is a deal breaker for you then you ought to go the http://wordpress.org route.
The sticky post at the head of this forum titled “Please read me first before posting” lays out the differences between wordpress.com products, policies and services and those at wordpress.org. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700
Other limitations of having a wordpress.com hosted blog are found in the Terms of Service Section 2, bullet 5 – wordpress.com blog cannot be used to drive business to third party sites. And we cannot advertise on our blogs at wordpress.com
