How to editing DNS at domain's registrar?

  • Unknown's avatar

I bought WordPress Value Bundle and tried to to upgrade our educationeffect.wordpress.com into educationeffect.org. Now we are asked to edit our DNS at new domain registrar’s website. How to do it? What is our new domain’s registrar? Please help us – we are struggling with it for months. Thanks

    Hi there,

I did a lookup for the domain educationeffect.org and the results can be found right here:

    http://who.is/whois/educationeffect.org

As you can see, the domain was registered with the company Name.com in October of 2012. You will need to go and log in with them in order to change your nameservers to WordPress.com’s.

    Those correct nameservers are:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    I hope this helps!

    Hi there,

What you purchased through us was actually Domain Mapping, which is a product that allows you to point a domain that you own with another company to our servers and lets our servers respond correctly. It doesn’t actually register the domain, it only makes it functional on our servers.

If you don’t own the domain itself, that’s not a problem! I can cancel this credit and you can get a different domain instead with your Value Bundle!

OK – I understand now. Thank you for help. Can you please cancel this credit so we can get a different domain (educationeffect.org is unfortunately taken)?

    Sure thing!

You’re all sorted, and your credit is now available in your account. In order to register your domain, you will need to log in to your account, click on the Store link and then My Domains. You can type in the domain you want and click the blue button. Make sure it says that it doesn’t say that “this domain is already taken, but you can map it to your site” and you’ll be good to go! You can add it for free.

Thanks very much. One last question. I managed to edit DNS and our new web address (www.educationeffectafrica.org) redirect to our blog in wordpress. However once the page loads the web address changes into wordpress address (www.educationeffect.wordpress.com). Could that be changed in a way that the address appearing is our educationeffectafrica.org?

That’s actually really easy to change! You just need to follow the instructions in this article and you’ll be all set:
